Ongoing Activities at Festival of the Butterflies

 

Kids Zone

Located at the Los Rios Park, children can learn about pollinators, flowers, and insects while engaging in simple arts and crafts activities. Saddleback Church members will be providing the guidance to the kids

Medicinal Plant Knowledge

Find Adelia Sandoval behind the Montanez Adobe. This park was once the medicinal and herbal garden of Polinia Montanez (1829 – 1917). You can learn about the gifts from the garden that have been used for centuries in healing and spiritual practices.

Los Rios Park Nationally Certified Butterfly Garden

Stroll through the winding paths, being aware of the frangrances and beauty of the trees, flowers, and plants. You can enjoy butterflies fluttering by, as well as watch these insects as they feed from the blooms and blossoms. Tended by Goin Native’s Garden Angels, the garden is home to -a number of native California plants. Docents will be in the park to answer your questions and provide information.

 

Raffle

Buy your raffle tickets at various booths around the Los Rios Park and be sure to listen for your name! Raffle winners will be annouced at the Los Rios Park Stage every hour. The purchase of your raffle tickets support the programs Goin Native offers to the community. Free children’s educational programs are taught in the spring and summer at Los Rios Park.

Butterfly Cafe

Relax in the shaded headquarters of Goin Native at the end of historic Los Rios St. The “Boozey Butterfly” will be available for purchase, as well as iced tea and lemonade. Food by Trevor’s at the Tracks will be avaialbe in the garden to satisfy your hunger.

You can also enjoy the talents of musician Eric Gorsuch in the Beer and Wine Garden.
