Become a garden volunteer and help maintain the butterfly sanctuary at the Los Rios Park. Like public speaking and the outdoors, become a docent for interpretive CA Native plant walks and talks at Reata Park in San Juan Capistrano Enjoy making crafts? Volunteer at the SJC Community Center helping seniors with take home garden projects.
Since the Los Rios park opened in 2009, the garden angels volunteers have given thousands of hours maintaining the CA Native landscape while saving taxpayer dollars. Our garden group has grown from 5 people to over 40 people! See us on a given Thursday, we've incorporated the CUSD Adult Workability program, helping students gain employable skills while maintaining the gardens and getting good exercise. Did you know there is dirt therapy in gardening? It's a natural feel good sensation after tilling the earth, moving about and getting plenty of fresh air.
Volunteer: Los Rios Park in San Juan Capistrano. Meet in front of the Montanez Adobe Los Rios Street. Every Thursday from 8:30am-10:30am except rain/holidays.
