Companion planting is the scientific study of what we gardeners see via experience: some plants grow really well when in the presence of others. Diversification is key in any garden, and there are pairs that just complement each other well. Whether it's a growing pattern (i.e. tall plants giving shade to ground cover) or one plant being especially good at repelling the pests of another there are a number of known combinations that just do well together.
