Merced National Wildlife Refuge is one of California's little-known treasures

If you're ever in the northern part of California and you like birding at all, a must stop is Merced National Wildlife Refuge.  Just south of Sacramento, it's a rest stop for a ton of birds on their migratory flights.  Not only that, but it's also a critical location during mating season.  With plenty of walking trails, its a special place to go birding.  Jaymi Heimbuch of Mother Nature Network visited and documented its beauty and all those great birds!
