It is said that good things are worth waiting for.
The City of San Juan Capistrano has been planning, hoping, dreaming, working and waiting for the beautiful Los Rios Park in the heart of the historic Los Rios district. On August 29, 2009 ribbons were cut, dignitaries spoke, the grounds were blessed and everyone cheered for the long awaited grand opening of Los Rios Park. Goin Native was thrilled to be invited to participate with a booth to display garden creations that will be part of our upcoming classes.
How auspicious to celebrate the unveiling of this beautiful park landscaped with California native plants just as Goin Native is celebrating its launch with a series of four classes starting September 26, 2009. To support this historic area and the new park, Goin Native is spearheading a volunteer group of Garden Angels to not only keep the park beautiful but to spruce up the surrounding neighborhood. Los Rios Park is the jewel in this community’s crown and friends and neighbors are inspired to roll up their sleeves and bring out their rakes and brooms.
The first workday is October 17th. We’ll meet at the brand new park from 7:30 am to 10:30 am. Come join us for a bit of fresh air and gardening along side others who think this park was worth waiting for.
Please fill out the very short volunteer application and bring it with you. If you have any questions, feel free to get in contact with us. Enjoy the pictures of the park and we look forward to seeing you on October 17th.
