We were lucky recently to take a tour of Alegria Fresh at the Great Park in Irvine, CA. Led by Erik Cutter, who will be a speaker at the upcoming Eco Garden Expo May 2nd and 3rd, we got a first hand view of the cool things they're doing at Alegria. They are set up as an urban farm environment where resources management is key and space is a premium. They have plenty of their familiar hydroponic Garden Soxx, helping to create a really nutrient-dense growing environment for their fresh garden herbs. We highly recommend scheduling a tour for yourself!
In addition to taking the tour, Erik offered us some fresh Kale straight from the Soxx to use in our event for the Paws in the Garden this Saturday, April 25th. Paws in the Garden is a Garden tour put on by and benefitting the Ark Animal Rescue in San Juan Capistrano. Goin Native's Founder, Marianne Taylor, has a garden that will be a stop on the tour. At this stop, we'll be having fresh Kale Pesto made from Alegria's Kale and Bella de Paso Extra Virgin Olive Oil, both vendors at Eco Garden Expo. We'll also be raffling off (for FREE!) some really neat recyclable bags made from real burlap coffee bags. So help a great cause and get some goodies while you hang out with Goin Native!
A big THANK YOU to Erik and the team at Alegria!
